How to harness AI for creative work? No Code Days 2024

At No Code Days 2024 in Warsaw, I asked if AI is creative and showed how to share creative work between humans and AI: from an idea to a storyboard.

On 18 November 2024, I spoke at the No Code Days conference at EXPO XXI in Warsaw. My talk was called "How to harness AI for creative and design work?".

I started with two questions: are you creative, and is AI creative? Then I moved on to how to share creative work with AI in practice, right through to drafting a storyboard. The main points:

  • Creativity goes beyond mere originality. It is novelty combined with usefulness.
  • AI hallucinates: it can provide false data and invent images, so you must verify its results.
  • AI generates variants quickly, but unique ideas and a personal style come from humans.
  • The creative process has two phases: divergent, when we generate many different ideas, and convergent, when we narrow down the options and choose the best ones.
  • Research shows that stories written with the help of AI are rated as better written and more engaging, but the content begins to look alike.
